As a birth doula, I support clients with varying needs and personal preferences. A couple questions I always ask, even as early as my initial consultations with potential clients, is where they want to give birth if all goes according to their wishes. I also ask who their care provider is or will be for their pregnancy and in the future for their birth.
In Southeast Saskatchewan there are midwives available through the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region, in both Regina and Fort Qu'Appelle. However, there is a current well-known shortage of midwives in Regina.
If you are pregnant and may want to consider a midwife for your primary prenatal, birth, and postpartum care, call one or both of the following offices to get on a waiting list as as soon as possible in your pregnancy (midwives only take a maximum number of clients per month):
